insurance?..

Post by Milky »

just looking around to get an idea of insurance on a sports 400-600.. it's gonna be restricted to 33 brake.. 3 party only..possibly fire & theft if i can afford it.. the best i've seen on tescos and confused.com is around 900 quid!  .. although there wasn't an option as to whether it was restricted or not. my mate who is the same age as me is paying around 400 quid on a restricted SV650s fully comp!.. What sort of price would you guys be expecting to pay if you were me?.. :| Thankss.

Hi Tom, your mates would have been cheeper as its classed as a sport tourer not a sport. mine is restricted but you need to call them and let them know in most cases. my first was around £750. Express Insurance are usually pretty cheep

Have you tried calling H & R ins direct, they are dirt cheap for me and also do deals like paying 25bucks extra and that cuts you excess in half etc, worth a crack! :D

dont know how old u are but if u go for a sports/super sports its gonna be big bucks and if u go tp only you are asking for trouble cos YOU WILL drop it. its the way it goes.

the sv is a blody good first 'big bike' plus insurers like them, do yourself a favour and get an sv, diversion(speak to steve-d), ER-5 (varcon), cheaper insurance and still fun.

or, blow all your cash on a ragged sports bike, skint yourself out on insurace and catch the bus when u can't afford to fix it.

Thinking about it mines underwriten by Trophy insurance, so they would be worth a call, Im 25, had the policy since August, passed the A2 in October and paid £180 for my zxr4 fully comp, which was by far the best deal. I used Tesco's comparsion site to find it. They also offer a we can beat any quote promise!

I pay £150 a year tpft on my 400 bandit  and im only 20 with three years no claims. Thats with carole nash that comes with free breakdown etc. Go for something naked or half naked to get some cheaper insurance.

My sister got an amazing deal on her insurance - fully comp on the CBR 400 the day she passed her test - so no no claims/experience. To be fair she's older than you - early 30s - but she was as cheeky as hell. She just kept on asking them what else they could throw in to do the deal. So, in the end, she paid £216 and got them to throw in European breakdown cover, legal cover, helmet and leather insurance, key cover AND to pay by instalments virtually interest free..! I've never seen anything like it..

That was through Norwich, I believe.

Good luck!

I'm 18, so a little bit older than you, but my first year with a full lisence on my diversion 600 at 17, which is about the same speed and power as a 400, but a bit more torquey, so will pull from anywhere in the revs which is usefull for a learner, Was 570 tpo but when I added in legal cover, breakdown and interest on paying monthly came in nearer to 700.
Just insured my R6 today for 1087 quid tpo with 1 years no claims. But that is a multi bike policy with the divvy added as well which was only another 150 quid to add to it.
Also got added 14.5% interest for paying monthly robbing b'stards.

Express Insurance got me a good quote for my ZX6R but it was F/comp though, about 1200, seems a utter waste of time now its a gonner but they are pretty easy people to deal with.

I'm with MCE now for my RS, about 670 F/comp again, again really easy people to deal with.

Either one is worth a call bud!

ZX6R was 20, 1 years no claims and 1 years exp.
RS still 20, 0 no claims and 1.5 years exp.
Cheers, Marc.

Yea its a bit steep but hey fast bike and young rider = $$$$

Try gocompare.com and thebikeinsurer.com both good comparison websites.
Ebike and H+R insurance always come out cheapest for me.

I've just been looking at insurance for myself went to gocompare.com and the cheepest on there I could get was just over £2k. On confussed.com about £1300 then went to tescos and seen it for just under £500.
Think I'll be useing the one on the tesco site. :)
