A simple fix like clean them out or abit more complicated

Carbs usually require a new set of o rings to get them working right again - fairly easy job to do and you can get the rings for £11.

Other problems are usually just general old bike problems!

34mm CV carbs from a GPZ900R will fit on a 400GSXR/Bandit motor, and are a far better carb, or 30mmCV carbs from a ZRX400 will also fit and are a better carb but harder to find. spacings should be 77-85-77 same as XJR12 ZRX11 but they use 36mm CV and won't fit into the rubbers. I may have a set of 30mm ZRX400 carbs kicking around if you need them.

Bike didnt even start :(
Took plugs out checked wiring was sparking but not very well what would fix it as its a nice bike in the lucky spirt colours. Would like it but at £750 and not starting i though i would leave it and ask in here to see what you would sergest may be the problem.

It ain't worth £750 if it doesn't start, it's worth no more than a couple of hundred quid, dpending on which model it is, if it is a GK76 slingshot then that is better than a GK71 beam frame, or a GK73 slabby. if it's a GK71 stay away from it, and only go for a GK73 if it is in excellent condition, which it sounds like it isn't. So unless you get it for peanuts walk away.

Yeah I think I will walk a
way from this one.It was the GK76. I wasnt impressed it didnt start as he said it did. He said he guaranteed the engine was sound but i didnt want to spend £750 of my money if the engine was shot and he didnt know how the gearbox was plus i've heard they drop vavles aswell.

Sounds like you dodged a bullet there. If you're after a 400, Badgers 400 is worth checking out.

Are the GPZ900 ones exactly the same spacing as the bandit ones? I guess the airbox won't fit with the 34mm ones?

Yes they are the same at 77-85-77 centres. you may find the GSXR slabside rubber will work
