Don't know about the electric start but I'm sure when you get the nack of starting it you'll be very rewarded. Never owned one, but had a go on my mates and its a real animal.
As if you haven't read it enough start up should be something like:
Full choke. Kick slowly until it will go no further, press decompressor and kick another fraction. Now give a good kick with all your weight and a little gas. Don't be afraid to do this with your left foot on the footpeg and using the side stand. Repeat until started (or it gets dark).
Best of luck!

Re: yzf426 Help!!!
Unfortunately it's not that simple with the YZ400/426. Technique is the main thing & experience whether to use choke knob, hot start knob, throttle/no throttle. Not to mention the general positioning of the kick start on these, it just doesn't lend to giving it a decent kick.hutchism wrote:Don't know about the electric start but I'm sure when you get the nack of starting it you'll be very rewarded. Make sure petrol is fairly fresh, alot of single don't like stale petrol.
They were also set up poorly for starting when new, a friend had a YZ400 when new, the first time out it was a nightmare, everyone taking turns to start the thing, he took it back to the dealer who changed the jetting and it started alot better, but not brilliant.
I have an XR400 which, despite years of owning a CR500, was awkward for me to start when I first bought it, now I know the right technique it will start 1st or 2nd kick. I once sold a XL250, pice of cake for me to start. 2 people came & looked at it & didn't buy it because they couldn't start the thing, even though I did every time, a 3rd bloke wearing big boots just kicked it, liked it & bought it - I think the first 2 buyers were afraid it might kick back.
Re: yzf426 Help!!!
Yeah, I guess they can be a little tricky. I left the choke bit on the assumption that the engine would be cold and were in mid November. I'd really enjoy having one of those and if I had the cash I'd buy it off him in a second. Maybe my post should have said 'please don't give up!'. The smile it'll bring when you master it and pull wheelies in 3rd gear by accident!
