Paralysed rider.

Post by mightybluesteve »

I know I'm new here, & I hope you'll appreciate that this is not the sole reason I'm on this site.
My good pal, Malcolm Sheppard, is currently receiving treatment in Salisbury hospitals spinal unit. He's in Tamar ward, & has been left paralysed from the chest down, courtesy of a car not seeing him.
His spirits are good, but as I'm sure you can appreciate, he could do with a bit if support.
He's a former Royal Marine, was just about to retire, when both his, & his wife's lives got a massive kick up the arse.
Send him a card, if you're able, if not, watch this space. A fund raiser for the hospital will be held in the new year.
Malcolm should be out by then, so you can meet the old fart, & help out a good cause at the same time.
Cheers.

:D please pass on my best wishes to Malcolm. As Kelly has said, a few of us on swb are heavily involved with THE BIKE EXPERIENCE and the forces charity MISSION MOTORSPORT. Talan is a huge inspiration to what can be achieved, and if you want I can pm you Talans number to pass onto Malcolm.

It'll probably be better to mention getting back on a bike, once Malcolm is back in the area. He can't go home, due to the fact that his house cannot be converted. Hopefully he'll be out by Christmas, if he can find a suitable care home.
The fund raiser is going to be on 1st March at the Two Mile Oak, on the A381 between Newton Abbot & Totnes. Have got loads of really good raffle prizes already, but could always use more.

UPDATE: Malcolm will hopefully be leaving the spinal unit at Salisbury within the next week.
A room has become available at the Forde park nursing home.
He'll be able to see his dog again, & its not to far for his wife to visit.
(I hope that doesn't sound wrong?)

Hi, sorry its been a while since I last updated everyone.
Malcolm moves out of the nursing home today, & into an adapted bungalow.
The fund raising event is all set for 1st March at the Two Mile Oak, on the A381.
There are dozens of fantastic prizes to be one, from multi national companies, as well as local businesses.
A quiz will also be held in the evening, with a great prize.
Spread the word, & come along. Starts at 3pm.
Steve.

Hi everyone, it's been decided that March 1st is a little early in the year. We can't guarantee decent weather at any time in this country, but have a better chance nearer summer. This will also give us time to increase both the quality of the event, as well as get lots more lovely raffle prizes.
