Hi from Dawlish

Post by Tayk2 »

Hi Folks,

Found the website with a Google search.

Just wanted to introduce myself. I have been hooked on bikes since I bought my funky Suzuki AP50 moped back in ‘76. I was a trainee bike mechanic in Northampton at the time and have owned all sorts of bikes since then.

Unfortunately over the years most of my biking buddies have either sold their bikes or lost interest in riding, so it would be great to meet up and ride out with some fun loving bikers. Apart from my annual pilgrimage to the Moto GP, I am planning a European trip, maybe to the San Marino GP to soak up a bit of Rossi mania this year. Never done a track day or wheelie school.

My current bike is an MT09. I am really keen to hear from anyone who fancies a ride out any time. Huge breakfasts and inappropriately large lunches a bonus.

Cheers :-h

Hello and welcome, the weather should start improving now and that means ride outs! Check the aptly named Ride Out section for stuff happening in your area and get along :D .

You've found the right place here then :-bd

We're already doing regular ride outs, where the breakfast and coffee/cake stops are obligatory. You'll find us to be typical bikers, never grew up and touched with varying degrees of madness

MT09 a great bike :-bd :-bd

Hi chris

Welcome to the forum.

If you fancy doing a track day with some friendly folk, each year I run a day for the forum. It's up as the Llandow Trackday.

There are 16 riders plus 1 marshal on track at each time in each group.
Novice
Inters
Fast.

As you have never done a Trackday before you would be a novice. Nothing against your riding but it's a new experience and new is new. :)):

If you want to take part it's on Friday 10th June.

There are two Places left in novice.

If you look on the threads there are track trips to Bedford, Cartagena, Llandow, Pembrey, portimao and Cadwell so far I'm sure with more to follow.

There's trips into France and Spain, I think the Spanish trip has places still.

There are many fans of MOTOGP on here too. We have a pub in Exeter that shows all the races for us on the big screen. Jump in on that if you like.

There's a friendly ride at the end of March that may just end up at the MOTOGP pub as it's on the same day and the race is in the evening.

Have fun and enjoy the site.

Anybody who like bikes, rideouts, "huge breakfasts and inappropriately large lunches" is gonna fit in well here :D . Shame you've just missed two of the above - the SWB meal bash at Sampford Peverell on Sunday pm and the Post-bash run on the sunday, both were 'effin good fun.

Sounds perfect!! I'm up for all and more! Thanks for the welcome, I'm looking forward to meeting up with you all already. I really do fancy the track day but would like to learn a bit more about it in terms of what I would need. Do most people ride up, or would I really need a trailer & spare tyres etc? There is probably a thread that covers all this somewhere, I'll have a look.

Cheers
