Welcome to the site!

I have to agree with the other peeps. The SV is a cracking bike.
Cheap to buy/run/insure, plenty of fun and enough torque to enjoy yourself.
There are plenty of options avalable though!

The Minister for War and Finance (my other half) has a Kawasaki GPZ500S, light and easy to handle, but plenty of go if you keep it above 4500 rpm. A good first bike.
Good luck with your training and welcome to a very friendly forum.

Cheers..........Tony. 8)

Once again thanks for the comments everyone. :D

My CBT instructor is, I think, going to take me of to a couple of places in Yeovil to have a look at bikes and to give me some advice but I am taking note of all of the suggestions made here too. I'm also hoping to actually get the bike in time for my Direct Access course since I think that it would be a good idea to get properly used to it before I am (hopefully!) let lose on the roads.

Yo welcome to the site ... im gonna have to be biased here and recommend the SV 650 as a first bike ... it was my first bike and still is :D very forgiving and sturdy as hell (Mines been airborne and it still works fine but a litle bruised) and it powers well =D

Anyway have fun and just testride them first :D

Thanks for the tip off. I'm actually in the area this afternoon so I may drive by and have a look.
