It makes me sad the insensitivity to his family

I had a witness statement say that I 'overtook safely, wasn't reckless and was within the speed limit, but because I was on a motorbike the accident would undoubtably be my fault'!!!! That was 2 miles away from where some arse turned right as he approached me and took me out, big time. I was told by my solicitor that this would stand in court and go against me!! If you are on 2 wheels the world looks down on you and you will be stiffed, even if you are doing it within the law and not taking risks.
Unfortunately, many people have been killed and injured on the twisties and not all of them bikers. Todays news is tomorrows chip wrapper.

I stopped buying that comic many years ago.

How they can have the word "News" in the title must be against some kind of trade description legislation. I think motto is "Why let the truth get in the way of a good story"

Its just an excuse to print "celebrity" gossip and lies. The Sun's no better.

Sadly the TRUTH and WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED dont actually seem to matter any more and printing this sort of SHITE does not carry any sort of consequence!!!

If you look back at the last few months of MCN - that crap that BRAKE stirred up about bikers killing children and not caring about their family was allowed to go to the public press without any need for factual info and what has anybody been able to do about it?!

This sort of tripe gets front page news and the stories like 'only 3% of crashes caused by speed' go relatively un-noticed!!!

Sadly we are fighting an uphill battle but this should only stregthen our resolve!!!

This was the story run in yesterdays news of the world.

Biker killed on “flat out “ ride

A biker was killed in a crash on a twisty stretch of road described as a good spot to “go flat out” by motorcycle internet uk.

Now councillors in Caradon Cornwall, want the web site shut down after the 45 year old rider hit a truck on the A 374 near looe.

Right at the risk of mass hatred I have some comments regarding this.

The article clearly doesn't give any details and doesn't actually say anything slanderous. Although it is obvious what they are trying to imply.

Whilst this seems totally unreasonable we should bear in mind that websites do advertise that road as a flat out road when all those that have ridden it will know that there is nowhere on that road where you can safely ride a bike flat out. No biker should be saying that road is a flt out road, in fact anyone with sense would be highlighting the fact that the road can be very enjoyable but has many villages with 40mph limits (I have even heard some bikers say that they don't even slow down a little bit for these villages), loads of side turnings and slippery road surfaces in places.

We should also bear in mind that while Frank was a safe and talented rider there are several bikers needlessly killed on that road every year and most of them were the riders fault - is it really surprising the councillor is anti-bike i bet they are fed up of all the bike accidents and whilst it may seem unfair it is only natural for them to see all bike accidents the same.

Whilst Franks accident is a tragic loss with all the idiots on bikes out there I am not surprised the press and council react so badly.

There is a lot of sense in what Andrew said.

I haven't seen the News of the World article. But they know what they are doing, and seldom make a legal mistake. We can't take them on, and I bet we would loose.

Frank was a careful sensible rider. We would do better to try to convince the local councilor of that.

The IAM even spoke up for Frank in the article I saw. And the councillor will know it was a daily commute and nothing to do with the route being advertised on a web site.

I have heard people boast about speeding and other stupid riding. Quite a few of the things they say are no more than bar room bravado ( or bullshit if you like. ) , but it can easily be quoted out of context.

But that's the sort of thing we can do something about. We should make sure people know we all want to get home in one piece.

Just my 2 pence worth. I had a lot of time for Frank and feel as gutted as all on here that he is gone. I am also a vengeful callous b'stard. Therefore I would like to propose the following. We let everything rest and pay respect to Franks family by letting him be laid to rest without us taking on the world and kicking up a stink. When we have all regained control of our emotions we sit down and look for any real or implied insults to Frank by the media and deal with them 1 at a time in a positive manner. In the meantime lets grieve for Frank and pay our respects to his memory in our own ways. Dont let the press hijack this time in our lives.
