My work is relatively dangerous, so when I ride my bike I like to pootle along, take in the scenery and work on my skills. Chill out really.

I think most fwsbr's don't really enjoy riding their bikes. Well, they always ride as fast as they possibly can from a to b, spending more time at pit stops, talking about heart-stopping/trouser filling moments, than riding. Seems to me they can't wait to get off their back-breaking, wrist straining bikes.

That's why they're better at parking than I am. I don't like to stop once I get going. I like riding my bike, not parking it.

Took me a while to work out why their one piece leathers almost always have baggy bums.

Fair Weathered bikers are sensible. Fun bikes in summer so we really enjoy them. Car in the cold whilst you die of hypothermia. mwahaha

I hear you. As much as I love the freedom of a bike, its just not fun for travelling in the middle of winter. Anyone who says it is, is clearly in denial!

I've done my years of having a bike as my only transport, riding in snow/sleet/hail/torrential rain - arriving at work so wet I might as well have walked into a shower in my clothers ..... having to stop at the side of the road and warm my gloves because my hands are so cold they can no longer operate the brake and clutch levers .....

I have a car for the daily grind now, the bike is a release - a pleasure vehicle for blowing out cobwebs and making me smile - I can get as much pleasure from a sunny evening bimble as a mad thrash accross the moors...

They key is remembering your skill level and knowing your limits - and no i'm no hypocrit, I still occasionaly have moments were I run wide on a corner, or go in a bit quicker than I should have, it's just that there tends to be a slightly greater of margin for error now than there might have been 15 years ago

I spent to many years commuting on bikes in all weathers to think that all year around motorcycling is fun. The minute I could afford it I went to fair weather biking only.

dont kid yourself there is nothing even slightly entertaining about being on a bike in shit weather.

Now, now. That's the whole point in being a FWB isn't it? Avoidance of chill. Out, in or otherwise.

Maybe a few more years communting everyday to work will make me realise that riding in the cold and rain is really crap and awfull and not right. But i have done it for the last 12 years and prob continue for the next.

Ok i only commute 15 mile round trip to and frow work but i have a car on the drive which most days is doing nothing.

Still i decide to take the bike

Riding to work in the wind, rain, snow can be unpleasent sometimes but it wakes me up at 6am and i still enjoy it so there.

With all this in mind i personally feel riding through the WINTER helps prevent this mad throttle happy feelin come a bit of sun shine that seems to be a issue.

Winter riding helps make you abit more smoother and wary.
