You are of course welcome along to any Southwestbikers rideout, however your bike must be in good mechanical order (we don’t want anything falling off of it including you), taxed and have a current MOT. You must have a valid motorcycle licence and current motor insurance. You are in charge of your motorcycle at all times and SWB will not accept any responsibility for actions you take or any accidents you may have. Always ride within your own capabilities and do not put others at risk. Remember, while you are on a Southwestbikers rideout you are representing the site and what it stands for.

good choice and the only way to go

wish i did that when i went from 748 to 916 but it was fun trying out a rsv mille and cbr6rr before deciding i just had to have another duke

as you obviously liked your sv650 the sv1000 was the only logical way to go mate

Yeah. As others here have said, if I liked the 650 so much but just hankered after more power, then the thou' seems like a no brainer!

I was hesitant, as a few people talked about the SV1000 being a bit unrefined. Maybe what makes the 650 such a hoot is the fact that it is so forgiving? I mean, you really can give that bike some welly without too much fear of being spat off due to any ham-fistedness.

After just a day on the 1000, I can mayyyyy-be see where others are coming from. Where the 650 would skip with delightful urgency off the line and out of corners, the 1000 just bloody explodes on throttle input. Now I know I'm not really used to 'proper' power yet, but bloomin' 'eck mate! It's clear that my days of reckless throttle-pinning are numbered! This new bike needs respect.

After riding some other stuff, I've decided that I just enjoy the whole V-twin experience more than anything else. Riding a good mates GSXR750 was a hoot. Stupidly quick! But as much as I enjoyed that srcreaming power coming in after 6000rpm, I really missed that big dollop of low-down torque that comes from the twin. I really think I like the slightly brutish way in which my new SV lays the power down.

And, If nothing else, the noise. MMMMMMMMM, I do likey tha' boom boom! :lol:

Hopefully I'll see some of you soon and you can have a peep at my new ride.

those sv1000s are a good bit of kit,not many owners complain about them

i know a mate who had 1 and he rates it as hi best bike and hes riden zx10s, zx6's the lot, its so much fun he could slide the rear wheel and get the front lifting on it at the same time.
