any way have been talked out of gettin a 125 and gettin a bigger bike 500 + what does everyone reccomend was lookin for bandit ,cb ,monster type of thing am not lookin to by till have done my test and that is in nov so where should i look to by this bike am i better off gettin it off a private sell or garage , this will be the first time i have brought my own bike so any advice welcome lol

Theres no harm in getting a 125 for a few months to build up some confidence etc, 125's dont loose a lot of money, so chances are you could sell for almost as much as you paid for it.

As for bigger bikes, 600 Bandits are a good start. CB500 is a typical bike test centres will use, good bikes too. Ducati Monsters are a mixed bag, I'm not convinced of the build quality but will be ok for a dry Summers day bike but on the plus side they seem very cheap to buy and generally have fairly low mileage.

I dont know how tall you are? so you may have to choose a bike small enough?

If you are into Sports bikes then the 400cc range are all very small and good. Honda VFR400, Honda CBR400 and Honda RVF400 are all cracking bikes. Kawasaki ZXR400 is a bit bigger size wise than the others.

You will pay more at a shop but should get some form of backup through warranty, if the shop are selling as seen then leave it, its mostly like knackered. Theres no harm in buying privately but always take someone who knows bikes to give it a good check over.

Instead of the 125, Save the money and we all could ferry you about

It all depends on what you are confortable with (bike wise ) after your test. The ER's that the learner centres use are very forgiving, but you might get bored with the lack of power quickly. Buying wise easy. Wait until autum(can't spell. After summer) and go to the dealers when it is quiet and bat your eye lashes at the salesman

My R6 may well be for sale soon. It's in track trim at the moment but will just need fairing, headlight and normal subframe. Would even fit it all for you. I'm that nice.

i have not ridden in a long time and this bike is only for a 6 mths or so till i find my feet again

and shockingly underpowered, only just get past the 50bhp mark apparently.

I think 400's make a really good first bike, but it never hurts to get some road time in on a 125cc even if its just so you appreciate a big bike that much more

damn it, why do you wait till 2 weeks after i buy a new bike. Would have made an great street fighter project. £800.03 and a partially used peice of chewing gum (one careful lady owner)
