Looks to me that It'll soon be a case in SWB that any other bike will stand out from the blanderama KTMs

this coming from the gazuki and blahmaha owner

Well I ain't getting in to the whole 'blandarama' question - what you ride is down to you, and probably dosh.
I can almost guarantee one thing though; there's only one Aprilia RST 1000 cc Futura owner/rider in SWB - bland the Fut' most definately is not, and that's the way I like it.

Thought I'd get a bite

Truth be known, If I could afford a new bike..........another V engine would be a strong possibility......

I always have had sports bikes or sports tourers and were great but needed to slow down hence changing to the nakeds. Wish I did it sooner.

I had a z750r and was a cracking bike but a bit cramped. That was a 2013 and bought it new.

Now though have a 2016 speed triple r and is brilliant!!
The 1050 engine is amazing and the new rs is supposed to be even better.

I short listed 4 bikes which were 1290 zuperduke, tuono, s1000r and the trumpet.
The reason behind it is I'm didn't want a bmw yet. Still don't think apprilia build quality is too hot.

Which left 1290 or 1050.
What swayed it was the raving reviews from close friends about the triumphs being so rideable and the fact there is dealer back up easily accessible.
The 1290 can be a handful and thought it may (would) get me into trouble even more often

The 1050 engine,In my opinion,is the best engine Triumph produce.I had a 1050 sprint st,very under rated sports tourer and very cheap now.TTS do a supercharger kit as well

I had an early-ish (T reg') Triumph 955 Sprint ST, it was a great bike, and except for the somewhat jellymould looks I preferred it to the 1050; but the Futura is a better sport-tourer, more comfy for ones ageing frame! I just love that 996 Rotax V-twin engine, so given some dosh I'd probably look seriously at a gen' 2 Tuono with lots of goodies.

Yep that rotax twin engine is brilliant but I have to admit yours Phil is more reliable than some v4's I know.

My old Fut has took some stick over the years, both from me and others(!), but at 17 years old it still keeps on keeping on - a typical teenager really

Izzat so? The 'gen 2 Tuono' I referred to was the Rotax-engined one - up to around 2005/6 I believe. I'm not too fussed about the V-4's.

What 17 years old and barely legal???


And yep 2011 on v4 engined ones have had some reliability issues.

Were the V-4 engines Aprilia-made? If so, that explains it!

Trying to persuade Mrs Fozz that we do need a 2006 Tuono factory in the garage!

Yes, I heard stories on those lines too.

My old Fut gets me around 46 mpg all day every day, no matter how hard it's abused; seems the Old School V twin rotax still scores highly, even today - one of the reasons a gen' 2 Tuono appeals.
