Noise....

The noise limit at Pembrey for Phil Bevan Trackdays is 105 DB.
You will be noise tested before going on circuit ( assembley area ) and there will be random tests during the day. The actual measurement of the noise is carried out by the Pembrey staff -we, as TDO's do not have any influence / control over this - they tell us who's passed and failed. The ACU ( and therefore their rule book ) do not have any juristicion at trackday events - we are under the control of the circuit. I'm 99% sure this is the same at any UK Trackday / Circuit ( that doesn't come under the ACU control )
Random noise tests are also carried out during the day - at all points of the circuit - if it's found out that you have ''modified'' your machine thus producing more noise you will be asked to leave the circuit immediatley. Aye we've had that one as well....
I've even watched from the Control tower ( by the start / finish straight ) and listened to the bikes go by. It's easy to hear 25 bikes @ the same noise level and one louder one !
If your machine fails the noise test it is up to you to modify it and then get it retested.
If you have any concerns over the noise level of your machine - please get a ''DB killer'' type device fitted before the event or fit the standard silencers.
Should your machine fail the noise test and you are unable to modify it enough to pass the test the machine will not be allowed on track. There are no refunds offered to riders who fail this test.
Unfortunatley Machines can not be tested before 9.00am therefore you are advised to carry out any modifications before you arrive at the circuit. We'd rather you be out on track rather than sat in the paddock.....
To be honest boys and girls Pembrey are trying to be fair to all riders while having to abide to local restrictions. There has always been a 105db limit but since the court case last year ( which they won !!! ) they ( and we ) are having to provide documented evidence of the Noise procedures carried out. When the court case was on they even went to the plaintifs ( geezer's winging about noise ) house and measure the noise from there as we were on circuit ! BUT even with these procedures in place for over 12 months now we are still getting bikes with noise levels @ 108 DB / 110 DB and ( sometimes ) riders questioning the Noise Officals. If you didn't know all our TD Marshalls / Officals are keen bikers themselves - in fact a fair number of them are working at the TT last week and this.
Cool .....
