Well done Gary mate. Very impressive.

I couldn't of done 1 mile let alone 26 of the feckers.

Nethier could that Jade maid apparently.

Its the trying and effort that counts i guess.

she is a fat useless lump of lard. Your right - its the trying and effort that counts thats which is why I have no sympathy for people that turn up at things like the FLM having not even bothered to train just so they can say they have had a go.

running a marathon is the easy/enjoyable bit - its the endless hours of training beforehand thats the killer.

All went smoothly from getting on the coach sat morning to getting to the 4* hotel in the afternoon, was told breakfast was at 6:15am and on the coach for 7am to get to the start, the race was started by Seb Coe at 9:45am and took me a few minutes to pass the start, it was a slow first few miles due to the amount of runners taking part.

I was aiming for 8 minute miles but after a few miles my pace was slightly behind so decided not to worry about it as I was feeling good anyway. At half way I thought I had 1:52 but later found out I had done it in 1:46, I felt good so decided to pick up the pace again, the crowds were awesome and were shouting and cheering my name (which I had on my vest), it felt a bonus to be able to overtake some of the other runners but was worried about "hitting the wall" at 18 miles but got through this okay, I then saw a clock at 19 miles which said 3hrs 45m (not realising this was for the womans elite race... lol) so ran a bit faster and then "hit the wall" at 22 miles.

Thanks to the cheers from the crowd I found some more energy and ran the last few miles at a good (struggling) pace, to cross the line at 3hrs 33m, delirious and struggling to walk.

I couldn't believe the time and was totally amazed.

This is a totally awesome race with fantastic crowds and I would definately recommend it but am not doing another marathon again
