it was a great day out. thanks again speedy for sorting it all out, and to jon and his dad for doing a great job keeping our lot together
shame my bike decided to fry the battery though - and cheers to everyone for hanging on and following me back just in case

in keeping with the rest of the day, I managed to run out of fuel before i could get it on to reserve on the a38 too, so had to bumpstart the bloody thing again at the side of the dual carriageway

was a great day, glad i came in the end.
Sorry to jewell who had to follow my sh*t riding

(i'd like to blame it all on the mismatched tyres but i think my hangover probably had more to do with it).
Cheers to jay, sue and svrash for a nice ride back to plymouth.
Well done and thnaks speedy it was a wel organised and good day out even if me and jewell spent the entire time completely lost

not wanting to drift off topic but why the hell are you running on mismatched tyres?

Interesting for me too and I'm well pleased I took the short route. I've taken the kids for a short pootle on the back before, but never a fully fledged, experienced adult pillion, who tries to help.
We did have a couple of problems. She couldn't get on or off the bike without a ledge, bank, rock, or kerb to stand on. Except once. Sweeping left-hander to the junction of the Barnstaple road. As I stopped behind a car at the junction, I lost the bike and lowered it very gently to the ground, having hit the kill-switch. So she managed to crawl out from under it that time.
We managed to take the 'interesting' route to the pub. Narrow, one vehicle country lanes and about 5 turn-offs. I started to lose my nerve a bit, so when we got to a very steep give-way and right turn, I suggested my pillion got off, but there wasn't anywhere for her to get off to, so I gave it welly and managed it.
On the way back my pillion navigator got something in her eye and inadertently signalled a left turn to me. A demented grasshopper with waving arms on the back seat and I guessed I'd gone the wrong way. Fortunately one roundabout later and we were back on track.
Have to admit, the 'drop' did amazing things for my observation and planning. All the way back and no stopping until a red light on Exe Bridges.
I felt like I'd blasted 700 miles, instead of pootled 120. Phew.
Next year I'll take the long route with everyone else. Anyone want a spare pillion?

Great to meet some new faces and even ugly ones (JEWELL)

and the usual regulars.
Great day all round

It was fun, and thanks to those guys who stopped when the suzi died on me..Decided to chance making it back and lost all power in a place just outside Minehead.. Carhampton.
Coasting to a halt in a pub carpark and waiting over three hours for the AA.. Worst places for your bike to break down.
A very nice man fixed my already attempted repair (superglue and electrics..might have worked
Second ride out with you guys, the first was Weymouth..
All is good, the bike is fixed
Next time out I shall bring the Triumph..
