Castle Combe

I know how draconian they are with their noise testing up there BUT.. looking at their website it says 105db, I just about get under 105 unbaffled at Cadwell (think they may be a bit lenient) Pembrey 103db I have to put the baffles in
Combe make you rev higher and hold the mic closer to the exhaust, so would I be wasting my time even contemplating booking a day there ? don't really want to go stuffing my can full of wadding etc...

That will be 105db at 3/4 of the max revs, not what they test you at at Cadwell. Yes, I would say waste of time.

Good luck if you try it.

It is possible to turn up and get a noise test. I'm planning to when they are open.

Anytime the cicuit is open you can get a noise test done. Word on the street is that the miserable old sod that use to take great pleasure in issuing a failure slip is no longer doing the tests and the new staff are slightly more lenient.

Isn't it a case of turn right, turn right, turn right, turn right, ..... Oh, I'm back at the start! Turn right, turn right .... Etc.? A circuit with no left hand corners?

What about the Esses, Hammerdown, Camp corner chicane and Bobbies?
And a little bit on Avon Rise

Well said Layne, and they've moved the bumps since resurfacing.

Re: noise test - I get 100db on a bog standard 2011 z1000 with the 'previous' tester, but it's a quiet bike. Apparently the new tester is somewhat more relaxed. It's the bloody nimbys who all moved there knowing they'd be living by a race circuit.
Yes it's 10min sessions which is somewhat annoying as I'm only just getting into it and the flag comes out, some book multiple sessions so they get more time.
Left turns? I would suggest there's only really the 1, i just see the chicane as an annoying forced slow down and can't be bothered to try to attack it.
I only live 15miles away so £135 not expensive for me, but that said i didn't bother with it last year cause of the 10min sessions.
Think i will do it more than once this year just to get my fix and reduce costs.

15 miles!

Damn, that's on your Door step.

I guess for that price you could almost ride there. Living further down the road always puts the price up for fuel etc.

Yes, yes, yes, but as I keep saying - why let the truth get in the way of a good jest??

And of all the UK tracks it's the nearest to being a big circle (rockingham "oval" excluded) :-bd :)) :))
