I'm asking this question for a friend of mine who is looking at buying a '98 VTR.
He has been informed by the owner that above 6500rpm there is a misfire, but below that its fine.

Any ideas what it could be?

could be lots of things but to be honest if the owner hasn't bothered to have it fixed he probably hasn't taken great care of the bike anyway - i'd walk away and find another one to buy.

HT leads,plugs.coils the list goe's on
any thing to do with wiring is a nightmare
and will cost a small fortune mate
its bound to of been to the garage,and they ve given him a silly price to fix it,on the other hand,phone around bike shop's,mite be a common fault
and you ll get a bargain
