 Took her in for MOT yesterday...

Failed on front brake caliper binding, now as this has already been overhauled, and due to going through brake pads at the rate of every 3 months...I said put new ones on.

£95 + vat... so that's yet another bleeding £160 odd MOT...

And advisory note... Chain and sprockets worn to near excess... Does it ever end... :?

 That seems somewhat excessive pad wear :? I can't beleive you are doing 10k+ miles in 3 months, which pretty much ANY brake pad should be capable of giving ?

Sounds like you've been riding around with your brakes on too much

Mine passed with a rear brake caliper leaking, and the rear tyre being too wide, which caused the caliper steady arm to melt one side of the tyre, and the chain to melt the other side. Plus one of the front discs is lose?! ... Now.. I wont tell you where I got it done too, but I noticed these things when I turned up to the MOT centre and as you do, give your own bike a look over.. I didnt say anything but it passed.

I've now sorted these problems out, but it could have been dangerous.

I'm not looking forward to MOT time as we're having
front brake binding problems on the CBR,stripped 'em all down and been through em,and can't find anything obvious wrong with them.....mind,it ain't that straight forward with it's linked brakes!

what brake lines do you have and when i had a CBR i went from the brake lever down to each caliper bypassed the splitter altogether .

Got a 1995 CBR1000F m8 - we are thinking about de-linking the brakes,not because we don't like the system.....but because it's playing up a bit....

We've bled the brakes in order as the Haynes manual states, and had the front callipers apart for a good clean, but they are still binding. Can't figure it out.

i have a TL1000R 1998 i had trouble with my front calipers.
Tried to clean them but in the end bought second hand ones . it solved the problem  that was only because i could not be bothered to buy new seals ,
but it could be your master cylinder what it falls down to is money this not a cheap hobby . ha ha :P
