It's that time of year again so I'm gona take the bike to work on a day off and give it a good wash, lube up, wax, and cover in preservative expecialy as Triumphs tend to corrode easily.

Last year I used Motorex Protect and Shine nad spray silicone grease on things like nuts, bolts, and brake bangos. Worked ok but still got corrosion even though it got washed loads.

Thinking of using Scotoils preserative but it's water based so if youget caught in the rain it washes off. Have been told of this other stuff that isn't water based and doesn't wash of (can't think what it's called, willfind out and put on tommorow).

So anyone got any recommendations or avoids. Cheers

Mike, I used to use the scottoil one, and it was crap. They say all you have to do after is wash the bike with water and all the dirty just comes off, does it Bow-a-lux

Also and a major problem I had with it, was when it came to re-spraying the bike, is somehow/seemed to sink into the paintwork, and the sprayer wasnt happy as it kept making the new paint go orange peel

Scottoiler FS365 spray is the mutts nuts. Go out in winter and then just spray it all over the bike, stops corrosion really well. I should know, I own a Bandit.

Thats what i have just used, as mt bike will be layed up for about 6 weeks,
I sprayed the engine with WD40
and i polished the bike with AutoGlum.

Tip top

scotoiler FS365 spray on most bits and WD on Ti exhaust and pipes - keeps it spanking baby...

Finaly got around to finding the name of this. It's called acf-50. Guy at work recomends it. Check it out and see what you think.

We sell it at Taylors for about £12 I think.

acf-50 is the stuff to use as mike has tried it now and he was amazed at how some of the rust actually came off some fastenings, I havent got time to go through all the spec as it would kill my one typing finger but I am that guy at taylors that recommended it to mike. Go to the web site and have a read its not bulls**t it works rust can not start, carry on or exsist on this stuff it kills it dead and it blocks road salt 100% as it bonds with bare metal and makes a barrier, its a chemical not a polish and it is £13 a tin but it goes on and on, a can does around 2/3000 sq metres.
We also stock tubes of the Salt Blocker Grease and corrosion stopper made by same firm, MCN and Ride raved about this, If you dont come to Taylors to buy it thats up to you but do yourself and your bike a favour and get some from somewhere ( there are only a few designated stockists). BEST £13 you will ever spend, unless you know the girl at end of our street
