vfr clocks help

I was talking to a friend at work today who has a vfr400, he was saying he thought that he has a problem with his bike as when he goes over 70 ,the clocks then has a red SPEED flash up on them. I said i hadn't a clue why this was but would ask on here. So any idea's anyone please?

Its a saftey feature, scared me when I first went on one. Doesnt mean anything, except that you are breaking the speed limit. ;)

It's part of the speed restriction thingy...
Leroy doesn't have that problem on his, 'cause the clocks have been changed to MPH, so it doesn't ever come on...

yeah? I would have thought it would come on at the 113mph mark.

Nope,
The Japanese restiction is 180KMH ... when changing the clocks to MPH, the restiction becomes 180MPH
