Taunton to Minehead

Picked up my bike this afternoon (bike shop had it for about 1.5 weeks) with a new set of front discs, new front tyre and rear caliper rebuild. As it was nice weather for a change I decided to run in the new front. Took her through Bishops Lydeard, over the hills to Dunster and stopped off and Minehead. Then back to Taunton on the A road.
Traffic was a bit sucky on the way back (guy in a white van in front of me thought he was riding a bike and was overtaking everything to stay ahead of me, for a short while anyway

). It was my first proper ride since Llandow on June 1st and I've noticed I've become a lot more relaxed on the bike and can move around, bend my elbows, lean into corners much easier.
But, throughout my journey, I was politely reminded why I love riding a bike so much...

Thanks for reading!!

Weather was fab and its great getting back on a bike after a break.
I know when i been on holiday i just can't wait to go for a spin.
Trackdays work in weird ways though. They do help you be quicker and more relaxed but i find and i know a few on here who agree that they also make you realise how unsafe the road is and slow you down.
Most rideouts i go on now when i push it, i ain't enjoying it.
Not like on a track when you push it harder and harder.
Perhaps i am just getting old

Yeah, it is definitely more dangerous and made me more aware of gravel, horse poo and bits of tree (because of the high winds).
On the track, riding was just stress-free!

The Law of SOD
The sun is back! - Typical, my car, which has been off the road for the last 6 weeks was just restored to my yesterday afternoon and the sun has been shining ever since!
I never intended my bike to be my 'transport'
I got my bike for FUN - for looking out on a summer evening or Sunday morning and thinking - what a perfect day for blowing away the cobwebs, for meeting up with like minded peeps and for the odd ride out with friends in fair weather.
For the last few weeks I have had to use my bike for getting to work along the most treacherous, narrow, pot holed, cow muck and mud covered lanes in the most vile and truly depressing weather and I have hated it
Little Loris, your story has reminded me again why I (usually) love riding.
Thank you.
I hope the weather stays fine for those of us taking part in the Base 2 Base ride tomorrow, although I wouldn't mind suffering a small amount of rain for a good cause.
