Devon & Cornwall safety camera muggers targeting A38

Be aware on the A38 folks, looks like the coppers/council, etc are short of cash again

It's obviously about making cash as they admit that speeds are reducing

What part of the A38 has a 100mph speed limit?

read the article again.
They're also cracking down around here but mainly in the 30mph areas which personally I don't think is a bad thing (rather them be pulling the boyracers/rushing school mums speeding in built up areas and not someone doing 75 on a clear A road).

I don't recall saying that it did, did I? The point of the post was to warn people of speed traps on this stretch of road, if I'm going to get abuse when I post warnings then I won't bother in future.

Lighten up you pair.
Originally in the BBC article they refer to 'breaking the 100mph limit' and I quipped where this '100mph limit may be, however, rechecking the article this evening, it's been re-worded in a totally different manner so my 'joke' is no longer relevant.
It wasn't a personal attack on you, VTR, just trying to make light of the situation (the original BBC report wording did strike me as badly worded but funny) and thanks for the head-up on this one; you will also note I posted my own warning, the police are cracking down in many lower limits in the Falmouth/Penryn areas (just in coinsidence the Jennings run, which ends in Falmouth, is on this weekend).

Fair enough, trouble with internet forums is that people can sometimes get the wrong end of the stick
Like most people I don't have a problem with camera's/vans being used in built up areas & being visable. What I object to is the sly buggers hiding & targeting areas that if you were pulled over by a traffic officer would more than likey result in a ticking off or "be careful son" kind of warning. The way the camera partneships operate by hiding etc only goes to show that it's mainly about revenue raising.
Interesting thought, average speeds have apparently fallen but the accident/death rate has apparently flatlined. Seems to me that the problem isn't people speeding, but bad driving/riding.

It's not just them. People seem to forget about the old folks who do 40 mph EVERYWHERE. They hold you up in the 60 limits and then leave you behind in the 30s
I saw a thing on Spotlight about the traps. What happens when someone sees the van on the bridge, slams on the brakes just incase he's over 70mph, the car behind doesn't see he's slamed on his brakes cos he's looking at his speedo and smack.

Bunch of cnuts should get out and catch some real criminals, which is worse, kids shooting each other with guns or speeding, speeding it seems, try phoning em to say you think someone is trying to break into your house, most likely get no help at all, we do not have the resources would be the reply, why cos we spent em all on hi tech gadgets to persecute motorists with, not that i disagree with speed traps in the right places, outside schools etc,

I was going over the bridge at Buckfastleigh in my van, saw the cameras and bbc cameras too, gave them the old coffee advert hand signal ( hope I’m not the only one old enough to remember it ) I have no problem with stopping bikes in built up locations, I’ve seen a cbr rr riding round Torquay, sounds like 15000 rpm in first, great until some kid runs out in the road to get his ball. On open roads thou lets seen common sense used by the police , not cameras by bureaucrats

thats just the way cbr rrs sound. 15,000 rpm,

I read in MCN that a guy just got off a jail sentence for only going 119mph on his bike on the dual carrigeway

He got a 7 (yes that is SEVEN) year ban and a 4 grand fine.
Yet that copper got away with doing more than that in his scobby with no blues and twos cos he was seeing how well it went.

Maybe the bloke on the bike was seeing how it went
