SWB Biker Down...

Leroy had a massive off today on Topsham Rd...

He admits he was riding too fast and not concentrating, he looked up to see the lights turn red and panicked, grabbing a handful of front brake, he locked up and down she went...

Both bike and rider slid for over 100 metres, Leroy on the wrong side of the road... Just missing oncoming car...

Bike hit central reservation and flipped across road onto pavement...

Bikes totalled beyond repair...

Leroy's right arm and leg skin is in sh!t state... Why...? Because he wasn't wearing his leathers, not even a jacket...

As you can imagine this has shook him up a bit, but he is talking about riding again soon.

Will post injury and bike pics later...

Oh dear, not good.

The amount me bike accidents that have happened recently makes me a little nervouse. Having just got my 1st bigger bike makes me think is it worth it?

Heard on news last night that there was another biker killed on the A303 yesterday. :-(

Hey all,

Firstly I would like to thank you all for you kind words and well wising - much appreciated :)

I have no excuse for the crash or the injuries - I was having a bad day at work, came home for an hour at lunch to try and get my head together before going back - I probably should have walked back rather then getting back on the bike ...

I lost the front end under heavy breaking from a speed I shouldn’t have been doing - my concentration levels weren’t as they should have been! I did recover the crash initially but was then heading into more danger so grabbed more front brake and off I went ... slid for a long long way (or so it seemed) onto the wrong side of the road - I was extremely lucky there wasn’t a car coming the other way or maybe I wouldn’t be posting this now!

The bike is a right off however I will be able to salvage some parts so will be breaking it and selling what I can. As for me, I spent 5 hours in hospital this afternoon - I have burns/road rash on my right arm, hip, knee/leg and foot ... left side of the body is ok, bruises and marks but nothing as major as the right side! However, the doctors are confident of a full recovery after treatment other a few weeks so with a bit of luck I will be back to normal.

As for riding - admittedly I was very shaken up by the crash, mainly due to the fact of if a car was coming the other way; well I could have been a lot worse. Still, that hasn’t put me off at all - it was my fault not the bikes and I am eager to get back on. I will be buying my new bike (either a gsxr600 or a 636) in May/June next year - looking forward to it all ready :)

Thanks again guys,
