I like the Rock Oil one but a few people have said the Wurth dry one is good. Not to keen on the silcolene one cos tends to flimg but their pro one is ment to be good. Anyway any recomendations. Don't want wax cos they make your cahin look white which looks poo. Ta all

iv'e used the wurth dry lube and seems pretty good, but for the winter gone back to a chain oil.

Using Rock oil lube at the mo, but have used the Wurth dry lube previuosly and will go back to it again as it was way better for fling ( or lack of!).

hate to say it mike but the wurth one is very good as is the putoline one !! dry lube is definetly the way to go though if your not commuting on your bike

I think I'll give the wurth stuff a go. You know how I like my bike to look all gleamy and there's nothing worse than chain lube all over the rear sproket and s/arm. Thanks peeps

Personally I always go for the runniest lube I can get, then use little and often to reduce fling. I used to work for a chain importer and I've seen chains covered in wax but still knackered. When we split them the internals of the link were corroded to buggery because the waxes don't penetrate the chain as well as oil does.

As my boss at the time said; would you put wax in your engine? Ultimately oily chain lubes do lube the chain better, hence why Scottoilers are so good.

Lubes I use regularly include Rock Oil, Silkolene, Mobil 1& Motul.

i am using the Castrol Chain wax, awsome stuff, best yet!!

Used to use Castrol Chain Wax, but have recently started using Wurth. It does go on clear, but after a while will still attract dirt like any lube/oil.

I tend to put it on after a run while the chain is still warm, the lube will (hopefully ) be a bit thinner & will penetrate deeper.....that's the theory

i used to have the whole chain fling thing going on, didn't matter what i did. Then got told that the non fling stuff only works if its going onto clean chain. If there is crap on the chain then the lube can't stick to the metal. I now use a chain cleaner and pj1 Clear lube. Works a treat, no fling and the chain lasts a long time.

Well Gav cleans my chain but I have a scotoiler on it so i dont worry about it, and Gav tops it up, and adjusts the amount

Good point, best time to lube chain is after a run, that way the heat in the chain helps the lube penetrate into the chain, also means the lube has time to penetrate while the bike is stood still. Runny lubes don't stay on too long, which is why I use it little and often, I keep the can on the floor just inside the garage to remind me to do it when I get back from a ride.

My tip for chain lube is to always do your chain when you just get back from a ride, everything is hot and any lube will generally be runniest when hot, it will penetrate better, I go for the little and often approach and i don't get a lot of fling all over my swanky gold wheels When I service the bike and have the back end up on the paddock stand, I spray wd4o onto a rag and wipe the chain to remove any old greasy dirty deposits, it keeps the chain looking nice and I have done 5,000 miles on my Busa and have only adjusted the chain once at about 1500 miles.

Use wurth dry too.
Shame the cans never seem to last very long.

I Normally take it for a ride (warm chain),clean with silicone spray and a rag,totally douse it in chain wax and wipe off the excess.Never have any probs with fling off and doesnt attract much more dirt then oil does.Cant remember what brand it is,tall green can?

on the subject of fling, who would recommend what for cleaning it of my rims? Been using a mix of degreaser/ old washing up sponge ( with the green bit on) and also white spirit. Then loads of soapy water.

Any quicker, less labour intensive methods?
