make some calls instead of doing the search engine thing. if you actually talk to someone you can sometimes drop the bill.
try the admiral route where u get parent to insure the car with tou as a named driver, am pretty sure that with admiral the named drivers earn no claims aswell.
other than that try a 1985 ford fiesta

Have no idea if they are good or what prices are like and believe it's quite restrictive but someone recently mentioned this to me

It's a bit 'big brother' ish so you can't get away with anything

Forget that, just read a bit more and must have a clean licence to qualify.

firstly, the car must be registered to the policy holder with 99% of insurance companies and secondly going as a named driver (when you are really the main driver) is basically fraud and the police/insurance companies are becoming more and more wise to it.
try doing a quote with you as the main driver and add your parents on as that will most likely drop it by a decent margin.

Totally agree. They will wiggle out of paying if they can so best not to give them any reason to do that. Don't want them to cancel from the start date of the policy due to non-disclosure.
Someone else said Quinn Direct pretty good

Again don't know much about then or you may have tried them already

Yeah, thats the point - anything like a Corsa, Fiesta, Saxo, 106, etc., and they'll sting you 'cos they assume you're just gonna be another chav boy-racer (
possibly not too far wrong
) whereas something like the landy will chatch them by surprise
Perhaps you should have checked the insurance before parting with your cash .......
