rusty forks

been and looked at a new bike today.
im all happy with it, but there is one thing that im slightly worried about.
at the top of the forks, there is surface rust at the very top. by the looks of it, the forks dont sink right to the top, but i may be wrong. there isnt any leaking oil around the seals.

just wondering how easy it would be to get rid of the rust? and ideas of how to do it.

cheers,

Dave

I dont think that it would be an MOT problem................a brass suede brush gets rid of it without damaging the chrome

Yep, that or Autosol.

As long as the corrosion does not pass the seals it should be okay. They'll prob need a service though with new oil etc. Other than that its new forks legs or re-chrome usually about 100 - 200 per pair.

As long as not in working area MoT won't find a prob. Autosol or brush it before re-chrome
