Serious answer to serious question. You would definitely need Public Liability and 3rd party insurance. No MOT necessary but cart would have to be roadworthy. Plod could nick you for unsafe vehicle, and if you drive too fast you could be done for "furious driving". But no crash-hat require...

I was self-employed for 7 years, it was hard graft, and as Jak pointed out the hols and sick pay are zilch. But it was fun and it only took me about 12 years after it bombed to pay off the debts. But I'm glad I did it - beats working for some overpaid git who sacks you when it suits him!! But hey go...
