I can wheelie for about 1 second but then the bike either tips back to much or I dont go high enough. http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?doc ... to+wheelie

spot on on the first point I first learnt to wheelie on a 12bhp RD125 LC. or take a look at the scooter kids wheelying.DynaMight wrote:Any bike will wheelie if you have the skill but you'll need to clutch it up on a SV. which all the 'stunters' will do anyway.
I'm not fussed personally, waste of headbearings/sprockets/rear shock/fork seals etc.
the second point is a popular myth - slam it down as hard as you like you can not damage a non worn out set of fork seals wheelying. If you develop leaking fork seals from wheelying they where on there way out anyway.
Although you can damage headrace bearings but you really do have to be a complete clutz and be forever slamming them down - in which case you will probably eventually bin it in the process and headraces will be the least of your worries anyway.
it will stress your chain and sprockets little more than a spirited sunday blast - and who cares about that they are consumables anyway. Thats kinda like restricting your riding to get more tire longevity.

my DR350 is great to wheelie, if only i had the skill to do it lol
first gear is a no no as it just snaps up
second gear power wheelies with balls on tank, but only about a foot high, need to try and move back a bit more
stand up secong gear wheelies come up alot more but as i said i dont ahve much skill and back off when it gets too high for my liking

Google has some good guides.
On your bike its pretty simple. Its easyer when you have lower air pressures on your back tyre, means you have more surface area on the road and is easer to keep balance. Around 15 psi should be good. Obviously when you get confident it wont matter too much.
Obviously wear all your safty gear.
Get yerself in 1st gear with your foot covering the back brake (for emergencys) with the motor spining at the bottom of your powerband, think mines about 8,000rpm. then while sitting as uprite as possible just smothly but firmly open the throttle to the stop. I'm guessing the fist time you do this all that will hapen is you might jerk forward a bit, but keep doing it, getting more agressive each time and the front wheel will start to come up. Dont be afraid of this.
Make sure the front wheel lands facing forward!! It helps a lot having a steering dampener.
Leaning/Sticking your knees out is the way to balance/steer left and right. The up and down and back a forward bit is controlled by the throttle.
When you come back down, make sure you have the throttle fully open or accelerating, last thing you want to do is smash the front wheel back down.
If all goes to shit, put your back brake on.
When you get the hang of this, you will probably find (like me) the limiting factor for doing longer wheelies is power/speed, so when you start to get to your redline and lose power, change to second.
Thats pretty much all you need to know. Just make sure you practise them outside your nearest hospital.
