dead pot

Post by keef »

I have a dead pot number four pot is dead as a dodo.If I take off the cap it makes no difference to the running,I have just changed the carbs (had two dead pots before that?) If I take the cap off and hold it against the rocker covers it arks out a lot ( its new caps aswell!) would this solely be responsible for the dead pot. Also when I took out the plug to check it,it was absolutely spotless as clean as it was when I fitted it,cant fathom it out dont know if its electrical or fuel related any ideas

Ok It sounds like an electrical fault to me !

Do you have a good spark on the spark plug ?

Is it a 2 coil system where you have 2 HT leads coming off each coil ?

Try swaping the Coils around to see if the problem moves to another Pot if so you have a faulty coil.

If this does not work then you have to look at the fuel system again, Remove your jets out of your Carbs and blow them out with high pressure air.

Try it

Yes you can buy 2 faulty ones mate !

Quality on parts aint as good as it once was as most companys now only test for quality on the minimum.
