I read a sticker on the back of a lorry once, it said 'If you can't see my mirrors, I can't see you'

What a good point, so I always try and make sure I can see lorry mirrors when following them.
It is a good point, but its the same for vans as well, or anything witha solid rear door, even mine with windows, if they sit in the wrong place you cant see them.

Stay back and sit to one side of it, then they know your there

modern cars are a pain,my astra has annoyingly big pillars and the rear view mirror sits far too low for my liking and blocks a lot of views to the left.

got to agree with the if you cant see my mirrors i cant see you,any time im stuck behind something i cant see through i always try to get in front of it to aid my view

Classic one about not seeing mirrors. I was delivering down Exeter Quay the other day and was nose to nose with another delivery lorry.

Did my delivery and walked around lorry checking the REAR and got into cab.

Started engine, checked mirrors and reversed less then a metre and crash.

Some numbty in a little Rascal van delivering flowers had parked right up my ar*se and was sat there, engine still running just looking at me.

I didn't even bother stating the obvious about not using horn, or reversing out the way oh and parking right up my ar*se.

Bleedin idiot.

I nearly pulled out on a biker on a roundabout the other week, our car has quite big pillars and I am constantly moving backwards and forwards when going right, I don't know why I didn't see him, although I stopped in time I bet he was swearing at me under his helmet.

If anyone here has a RSV and it was you I am very sorry

I've been riding on a frosty morning, picking my lines carefuly and smoothly;

taking sharp corners and roundabouts with the chuffing headlights of a delivery van in my mirrors! i get up to speed promptly on exiting the roundabouts and corners and certainly don't dawdle if its safe, but one slip on the bends and i've got no chance but to have him trundle over me and the bike...what a BARSTEWARD!!

Hang on a minute. We're making bikers out to be completely absconded from any kind of stupidity on the roads.

I've had some tw@t in town on a two-lane carriageway let someone cross the lanes in front of him while I was approaching in the lane alongside him. Suffice to say he wasn't thinking that someone could be driving alongside him and the car would've crossed in front of me killing me and not injuring him.

Like Bimey, I nearly killed him. Feckin' Harley's.

I must put my hands up to being complacent, thinking that 'cos i'm a biker i see everything.
My wakeup came when on my way home from work ( in the car) I pulled out in front of a ninja on a roundabout. I realy didn't see him until I was well passed my give way lines. Thankfully I put my boot to the floor and he went behind me.
Who's fault would it have been though?
The reason I didn't see him was he had his knee down and was therefore lower than all the flowerbeds and road signs on the roundabout. (not wise at 4.30pm outside a Tesco)
I definately learned something that day
