Should i or not ?

Post by SlowR1der »

Just gonna throw this open to the forum really........

I have had my GSXR750k7 since last July and am considering trading it in and getting another bike, my question is which bike to i go for after the 750?

I have kind of in my mind narrowed it down to 2 bikes

Honda Fireblade rr8 or the latest ZX10r both of which i can pick up for about £6500 or my bike plus £1500ish

Anybody here own any of those models can give any feedback.

I know in the mags the fireblade wins hands down across the board but there is something about that 10r that keeps pulling me back to it lol.

The GSXR 750 is a stonking bike but i dont really like the look of the k8 model if i am honest so i wouldnt want to get the latest one.

theres only one option you fool

848/1098

personally i'd look at a 04/05 zx10 as thats the last superbike thats taken my fancy. the new blades nice but you'd never be able to work on it especially after what you did to the zxr

at the risk of being predictable out of those three bikes I would keep the GSXR. :)

deej i wont match Jasons times mate i will be in the novice group at Slipperystone......well with only Llandow as a trackday under my belt i thought it would be for the best lol.

Have u fixed the zxr yet? If u havent i reckon its the cdi/ignition unit.

I am happy with the 750 its by far the best bike i have owned mate, however most write ups suggest the new blade is better..............as for the 848/1098 well thats still a bit of a dream depending on whether i pass my course.

Si,
You have read my text since but............If u were in the market for another stead,

U could do a lot worse that an R1 u know. I cant vouch fot the 07 or 08 bikes but the 04 to 06 model, its a stonking good all rounder. Very quick  , light with good handling, brakes and good looks. And bullet proof.
I use mine mainly for commuting, as you know. And find it really comfy for a sports bike. I would think nothing of doing 500 odd miles on it in one stint. Prices are good and there are some real mint ones out there.

But im sure that the 1000cc bikes such as the GSXR and ZX10 etc are just as awsome. However, I still think ur 750 is an mega bit of kit mate. U should get some proper use out of it first.

I know I just got this 999 but im a Ducati man and love V twins. I had to upgrade from the old girl 996. :( ( had it for 5 years now!) So the 996 is gonna become my track bike and the 748/853 is up for sale in the next few weeks.

Im sure u know whats best and will get what u need/want.

P.S. were are gonna have to get out for another ride soon. What about a blast down to cornwall after the T/D in March :?:

What does your heart say ... just follow it

The bike is supposed to be fun, something where decisions aren't made by logic and common sense, but by the heart  Why worry about common sense, practicality, etc., when what you need is something that stirs the soul ..... you have cars for the rest :D

in my experience, sometimes the most accomplished and capable bikes leave you emotionally detached - they do things too well, their limits way beyond a mere mortals, and as such seem bland :? Sometimes a rough edge, or a bit of fragility gets you more emotionally involved 8)
Of all the things I have ever lost, I miss my mind the most .....
