HELLO!
Have you meet Kevin healy!
lepords and spots fella.
Did you take the time to read the link to the thread I put up?
If your organising a track day that would fit the majority, meaning, mostly novice and things that have been said in this thread are, "Llandow is used to get newbies on track and a cheap day out" AND "good for new people getting into track days and those that need a confidence boost" AND "the few of us that go to track days together generally go for a laugh which is why llandow and pembrey are popular" then that tells me that most people don't have a gazebo, or a jenny, or want to travel all the way to north wales like the more SERIOUS track day peeps, so the idea of everyone jumping in one garage if it's raining to have the crack is more appealing than everyone hiding in the back of a van or trying to bundle under the pro's gazebo while there jenny deafens everyone.
I'm not saying tracks without garages or power aren't worth visiting, I'm just saying that people that know no different than Llandow or Pembray might not want to go to a big flash track without the safety of people that don't know how it works!
A group track day is about trying to please the majority, not the minority, and if your trying to encourage first time riders on track you need to make it as simple and as inviting as possible.
If I'm steeping on peoples toes buy trying to help I'll step away from the pc and let you boys crack on!

Re: Track day anyone?
I've never been to a trackday with fcuked up events ( never got that far )
The way i got spoken to on the phone when we had already paid for the day then get a phone call saying "sorry but we have put the price up" it was as if i was something they had stepped in on the way into the office.
I wont be giving them any of my hard earned cash & to be honest i dont feel i am missing out
Having the use of garages is way better than dragging genny's and gazebo's around along with camping equipment and all your bike related gear.
Though i do love doing pembrey
, it was where i did my very 1st trackday and have a bit of a soft spot for the place
I personally would be up for a group trackday in Portimao
( oh yes already done that with a great bunch of guys )

Yeah I read thread, well most of the first page with follow up replies. Sounds like Gemma encountered an instructor on a bad day or just a general arse hole, you can only assume that Focus Events had dealt with the situation but most companies are not going to let you know the actual outcome of the investigation. They are the biggest TDO, so you're bound to hear some horror stories, same with any large company in any industry. They are a bit like the Tescos of the TDO world imo, cheap and cheerful, I've never had any problems with Tescos either, you get what you pay for with no flashy extras.
Sounds like you maybe holding onto this grudge a little to long? Why not give them another try, see if they've improved?

Like you say things may have improved but why bother giving them a second chance when there are other company's that treat you like a customer.( not a mug )
I know of someone that had damage done to some gear on his return from an overseas trackday, spoke to them (Fe ) and several months on still hasn't had the situation resolved. They just dont seem to want to talk to him about it.
Another guy that went to Portimao with us had the same situation and has recieved a free trackday for his inconveniance.( different Tdo )
As you say it is personal choice in the end.

Re: Track day anyone?
Having never done a track day with FE i cant make any comment on them.
Having done a few with No Limits (Rockingham and Portimao) i was more than happy with their procedures and have no complaints and would do a TD with them any time.
One track i fancy doing is Donnington so i will be there with you Scotty, just let me know when and how much.

Re: Track day anyone?
not sure if youve seen the new focused foreign experience days where you have a transponder fitted for evening out the groups. well in the same email the cheeky feckers tried to put the price up £20, now me being me rang and said i hoped they would be honouring our original price as that was what we paid our deposit on. the guy was a bit off and rather arsey and said he'd come back to me. to my suprise (and others) he did ring back within 30 mins saying it was a misquote and the original price still applies and then sent another email informing us all. was fuming with them one minute and happy the next.Rsv4Col wrote:I've never been to a trackday with fcuked up events ( never got that far )

Re: Track day anyone?
Been to a few focused track days. Only had 2 problems with them…..got to the track thinking I was going in fast, told to do the first session in novice….another time I was told I was paying a certain price, got to the track and they wanted more, admin error! Both problems sorted no hassle. Other than that found them okay, happily use them again..
Done 1 no-limits at Rockingham with you guys, no probs on the day and had free coffee and the best home made muffins ever!! They get the nod as the best tdo, but only on account of the muffins!!!!
It looks like I’ve done my track day for this year, however I think donnigton is awesome
and would be up for a big get together there in the future..
Oulton like ‘cadwell on steroids’ .. I love cadwell so gotta go to oulton sometime

Re: Track day anyone?
I've done a few tracks days this year an dused all of the tdo's an dfound Focused to be no better or worse than the others.
No limits at Brands was great, but they changed from a 3 group day to a four but did issue a credit note and bacon rolls on the day for the breifing.
Hottrax are are ok, they're a bit patchy with applying the discount on occasion & didn't treat my gf very nicely at Cartagena last year but I'll still use them if the dates right.
Never been moved into a different group with Focused, booking e-mails can need chasing up but lets be honest I need to be chased at work most days & I've found the instructors to be spot on & like the rules they use, they're simple to understand & you know where you stand.
Only issue I have is they send the fast group out last so you get to wander round for that bit longer.
On the whole I'd say I'd probably go with No Limits followed by FE, Easy track & then Hottrax.
But it's all down to date, track and cost in the end for me.

Yes, I have MET Kevin Healy - the first time I did a Faecal Events Trackday was at Cadwell in around 2005 and as I sat there through the riders' briefing something was bugging me, thinking I know this bloke from somewhere, and then it struck me like a bolt from the blue.... it's David F*cking Brent! (from The Office for those with short memories) - an absolute doppelganger, looks, voice, mannerisms...scottyhutch wrote: Have you meet Kevin healy!
I've used FE a number of times over the years but they've never been a favourite of mine. At Silverstone a couple of years ago I booked a mate on as well as myself and he wanted to go in Inters - after signing on he came back looking perturbed saying that they'd bumped him up into the Fast group - not at his request, they were oversubscribed for Inters and in order to maximise their profits they arbitrarily moved people around against their wills. The groups were massive, if you were at the back of the queue in pitlane the first ones out were well into their second lap before you got out on track - and this is the old GP circuit we're talking about so laptimes weren't that short. The upshot of it was that it screwed my mate's head and he crashed in the second session and hurt himself, doing something that he wouldn't have thought of trying had he been in his comfort zone instead of being well out of it. Before anyone says "what's the big deal, just going up one group?" just about everyone on here books into Inters - if they were all happy being in the fast group they'd do it every time wouldn't they? (incidentally it's the safest group...)

Re: Track day anyone?
i hope ive read it right as ive got to agree with you there scotty, fast group is usually the safest of the groups.
i learnt a while back that at donington especially it wasnt worth going in the inters group, too many red flags as there was always a real mixed bunch of abilities. the fast group was full of club racers or really quick track addicts and was alot safer than the inters group which had a whole range of abilities. this was the same with all tdo's not just focused, some circuits tend to attract more idiots than others
outlon for example has always provided me with a lot of track time and very little incidents during the days as its not as fashionable a place as donny/silverstone/brands so doesnt attract the dickheads. i would not book into the fast group there tho as its always seemed to have had a lot of circuit specialists there so inters has always been safe enough and also a fairly quick group too
