Post by Jay »

OK Folks,
After my sea time, i need to get some miles on the bike.... so who's up for a lovely Cornish rideout?

Start point at Chiverton Cross Rowes bakery at 0900 stands up at 0930 route most likely be......
Chiverton Rowes Bakery to Chequered flag for Brunch via some lovely twisty roads, followed by
St Austell - Mevagissey - Tresillian - Falmouth - Helston - Porthleven - Marazion - St Erth - Gwithian - Portreath - Porthtowan and finally Chiverton Cross Rowes Bakery.

There will be plenty tea and cake stops along the way ~o)

Hi Jack. If you want to see first hand how a GS 500 engine copes under racing conditions and, in it's class is the one to beat; come along to Roche on Sunday May 23rd and watch motorcycle Grasstrack racing on the boarded circuit - the only one left in the UK. It'll cost all of a tenner for a full day's proper racing, solos and sidecars - the GS 500 engine rules the roost in it's sidecar class. You'll be amazed - and you won't ever have to ask if you'll be able to keep up ever again! :)):

Hi Robbo , maybe I will .My health is bad so I can do stuff when I can so cannot plan with certainty ... I am curious .. I mean it does 95mph probably a little more than 100 thrashed but mine is a slingshot 89 with over 60k on the clock so I dont want to kill the old gruntfuttock... so not slow but in comparison with more modern stuff with two or three times the Equus Caballus power though I think my horses are large ponies by 60k or maybe enthusiastic zebras ... thicker oil seems to help.. I will aim for that , cheers man

Hi Jack,
Its on the B3274 just to the north of Roche village. It's held, as all grasstrack racing is, on a flat field, and closely resembles a large old-school speedway track inasmuch as, although the sides are boarded, you get to see the complete racetrack from one vantage point; close to the edge of the circuit. It's deffo wheelchair accessable, but it IS a field so although flat it won't be billiard table smooth - hope you've got knobblies on your wheelchair :D .

Here's a google maps pic, the first field is the racing pits, take no notice of the date on the notice board. If you zoom in, the actual race track can be seen beyond; the spectator access is 500 yards further along this road on the left. I'll be attending this so if you can make it please give me a ring when you're there. Especialy if you need help of any kind. I'll have a coupla mates (ex racers themselves) with me so help will always be on hand :D :D - 07899 922 896.

Hi, cheeky ask ... If I leave my mobility scooter at home not on the motorcycle the bike is lighter and less pain ... therefore wondering if a kind soul could fetch and carry for me at tea stops etc or give me a piggy back ,,, I am about 11 stone ,,, if not no worries ,,, best wishes to you all
