Speeding fine

Post by pedro »

So............................................

Anyone know what points and fine it is likely to be for doing 41 in a 30?

The WIFE overtook a car straight towards a speed camera van while I sat there in the cage and just sank down behind the wheel!

Worst thing is the van is nearly always there & I had seen it when I was behind her  Oh well I will just have to work harder to pay for it

If you read MCN lately you'll see that the cameras they use in the vans are not tested on bikes, and as a resultm once one bloke who is currently protesting a fine has finished, then other speeding fines on bikes will have to be revoked.

Do not pay up straight away.

just a thought, if your wife was overtaking whilst travelling towards the speed camera van then he wouldn't have got her registration, if she overtook as she passed the camera van there might be a possibility she was obscured by the van she was overtaking... i dunno just a thought and a shot in the dark..... I'll get me coat :?

as we dont have number plates on the front, camera vans in front of us aren't much of a worry.

Unfortunatly thats not the case, they keep binoculars in order to get the rear plate as you pass. As I said, the only get off if she was caught is the fact that the gizmo they use is not accurate on bikes, so it cannot be relied upon as evidence. Have a flick through MCN website for more info on this.

I've heard that, but I've also heard its not true. As the operator is not a police officer, and they need the opinion of two witnesses if they aren't coppers I don't think its accurate.

Has any one been done with a photo of a speeding bike and a statement saying that bike was “abc123x”?

Of course its worth fighting it. If no one fights the results they just get worse. A magistrates court result will not create a precident, a sucsessfull appeal is binding on magistrates courts for everyone else as well.
