vtr sp1

hi chaps, im seriously considering the puchase of a vtr sp1, althow i have heard that using one on the road is not only difficult but pointless unless its on a track, iv always wanted one but if its not realy a bike for road use only il consider something else. what ur opinions? advice much appreciated. thanks.

I know someone who has one and uses it all year round, never caused them a problem, maybe a fair few bucks in tyres but that was about it.

i cant see using it on the road being a problem.... i know the sp2 was sorted designed by honda to win bsb/wsb but unsure about the sp1. ive been eyeing one up myself

The only problem with the sp1 was a slight fueling problem which I think can be sorted with a power comander !

problem being about 27 to the gallon !!!!

One of our lads has one. No real problem, rides it every day.
Power commander sorted low speed over fuelling
Pillion is high and a long way back from rider.
Tank range 100 if you're gentle with the throttle

Prettier than my firestorm, twin headlights etc, but not that much different to ride

No different to my duke ! hard riding is about 80-90 miles to the tank steady riding(eeeerrrr whats that) I get about 120 miles !

I know somone that commutes on one.

Bad fuel range, very tall 1st gear and apparntly its a bit of an effort to ride in town.

Apparantly very fun to ride though.

Sorry I dont know much else about it but I'll ask my mate when I next see him.

i have herd thay are very good and serously fast ,relible pritty good looking to in the red and black apart from the tank been a bit small but on a bike that sporty your not looking at touring

It is ..... a reasonable Gixxer11 should be OK for mid 40's in normal use

cruising at 80 in France my mates 1100K would happily do high 40's

The TL........

high 30's low - mid 40's

My old Kat had been known to get into the mid 50's cruisng gently (70ish) on holiday ..... 200 miles comfortably before reserve

were they stock ones? this ones running dual K+N's with a stage 3 factory pro kit. struggle to manage any more than about 110 miles for 13 quid of fuel taking it easy, more like 90 if giving it beans

Gixxer motor was stock bar replacement K&N in stock box and Laser full system.
Kat was stock at time, but later even with 1170 wiseco kit, balance crank, flowed heads & EFE valves, and ram-airs it returned virtually the same fuel economy

As a stock bike, the best mpg I ever got out of it was 2 up in Switzerland where it recorded over 65mpg

i know of someone who is loking to get rid of their sp-1.

high level cans, single seat, rearsets, power commander etc. also has all the standard parts from it too.
