Hi from Launceston - First big bike

Post by AlienFing »

Hi everyone. Just passed my test and after selling my piece of crap 125 had very limited budget for bigger bike.

After trolling the classifieds and fleBay found my 1995 Yamaha XJ600 Diversion Seca II. Only used a few times for work but already love it. Needs a little bit of TLC etc and a very annoying knocking at low revs but rides great.

I plan to devote a lot of time and effort into it to make it better and tidier!

No, thought it may have been the usual noisy clutch but now think it may be something to do with front sprocket, spindle it's on or hopefully something simple like the chain. Chain is tensioned ok but does have a tight spot! Only clunks at low revs at low speed, under load it stops!

Hi, yeah tis an import. 1995, imported and registered in UK in '98. It is an XJ600S Diversion, but in US it's called a Seca II.

sounds like the clutch rattle....check on the web there is a cheap fix involving a 5mm drill bit cut and placed as a repair iirc...

Although I would look at replacing any chain with tight spots personally dont want that at 70mph!

I had a 1999 Diversion with that issue, followed the instructions did the fix and then all sorted.

I have a haynes here still somewhere for it if you need any information.

Enjoy the bike, cheap and easy maintenance and fun to ride

Thanks Kevitree. Will look into it when I have a spare day or two. I have had the chain checked and told it will be fine for now.
