Helloha from deepest darkest Devon

Thought I would give this group a whirl as most of my biking buddies seem to be dreamers these days and neither have the time or inclination to ride much let alone go on dare I say a trip that might involve actually travelling beyond Devon lol.

Been biking for sometime and run a forum that was originally for greenlaning but as I got old and crusty I don't venture into the undergrowth much these days in more ways than one

Like most have had a string of motorcycles the most notable being a ZX9R E1 and for the dirty stuff a Husky 450TE which despite its various attempts to kill me failed miserably. Had a KTM and a Virago at one time ( a momentary lapse of reason)

Currently I run an old T reg KLE500, the old carb version with the more fiery GPZ lump in rather than the wheezy injected later type. It has been known to foray down the odd green lane but really its far too heavy and worn dual sport tyres on deven rocky and often flooded lanes is a no no really. Plus the top box gets stuck in the banks

Anyway when I glue some tread back on the Avon Distanzias and MOT it soon I will mossy on down to a meet in due course. I will be easy to spot on a red Kwaka KLE that looks like its been thrown into a hedge and wall several times (probably because it has)

I did actually go to Bridge today and enquired about a ne Yam Tracer but they are more or less sold out in the Uk, so very popular it seems.

I have done a couple of trips cross the channel and got as far as Switzerland and Italy on my Versys 650 a couple of years ago so would be interested in doing some trips away. Was planned a trip this year but seems my mate bottled out and sold his recent bike after only a few weeks, a nice Super tanker (sorry I mean Super Tenere, fingers slipped there)

I came here for the exact same reason you did, too keen for my mates who couldn't find the time to get on board with a pretty awesome Europe trip I had organised. I am pretty new still but seems like there are some great like minded people on here to get involved with! There is a ride out in a couple of weeks, June 21st i think that might be worth looking at

Thanks for the welcome, it is heartening to find some like minded bikers and will venture out as soon as I can to a meet, need some tyres and knee deep in building work at the moment converting my old garage premises to two houses. Shame my old crew are not up for it any more they are all younger and healthier than me but all seem to be tied into the daily grind and with nagging partners to appease.

Not into grinding down endless motorway or dull carriageways more about carving my way through a mountain pass or riding an epic road like the B500 in the Black forest area, that was on a Versys, the KLE would do it but really keen to get another bike very soon once the building work has progressed further and I know where my finances stand.

The old KLE has been quite good, seriously maligned and underrated imho and I can get over 60 mpg out of the old shed., not bad for a 16 year old dual sport although the 21" front wheel makes for interesting spirited riding at times. also although reliable it messes with your mind doing long jaunts on an older bike, having said that I known people on much newer bikes breakdown so I guess it depends on the bike.

Just kidding, yep theres a fair few on here able and willing to make it over the county border for the occasional bimblette....get yourself on a ride out and introduce yourself
