Portreath today

Post by kresmor »

Hi all,
Being from West Cornwall originally, I decided to take the Z800 for a long one today and went from my place at Tedburn St Mary across country to Widemouth and then down the A39/A30 to Portreath.

I used to hang out there 30 years ago with my girlfriend and haven't been back for years.

I was pleasantly surprised to find so many bikers there enjoying each other's company, not to mention the sunshine, when I arrived. A wonderful selection of bikes on view too. Just a really relaxed vibe and if it was,not for the long ride back, I would have stayed chatting far longer.

Just one of those days when I am proud to call myself a biker

Surprised anyone talked to you, usually a little clicky there.

There will be the same group there most of the day every Sunday.

I can only comment on how I found it, but it was fine.

That said, coming from Porthleven, I know only too well how territorial folks get. Back in the day, If anyone from Helston rode through the village it was as good as a declaration of war haha!!

Probably because the only time I've stopped there I've been on the mountain bike - no one will talk to me in my shorts!

I don't normally stop there as I have a family cuppa stop 1/2 mile away. Did stop with Badger once & were given free mugs, was interesting figuring out how to carry them home though.

That,s :)): probably why those old school jackets had the double front zip. I've had everything from bike parts to fish and chips stuffed down the front of my jacket before now!
